Fifty Shades of Grey

I managed to finish the first rebel regiment today and thought I would share it. It is kind of small, but painting smaller units helps to keep me motivated.

I went for a ragged and nonuniform look for this regiment which adds to the fun of painting confederate forces I think.

They are not meant to represent any specific unit as I prefer to keep my figures more or less generic so I can use them in any battle I wish. I do plan to paint up some tiger zouaves though at some point in the future.

    Thats a beautiful Confed regiment, well done, just a suggestion, you should allow people to join your blog so they can follow your progress, its a good way to create community and it also helps encourage you to keep on the hobby, just sayin...

    Good job, Jonas. My own Peter Pig units are also based 3 figures per base and, if I say so myself, are well painted and look good - but yours are technically better. Bravo! As I write my daughter tells me March 2013 (according to one source - another suggests February) is the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the 54th Massachusetts (of the film 'Glory') Union regiment.

    Stunning ... I'm painting up some Peter Pig miniatures at the moment. What paints are you using? how did you do the horse!

      Hi Justin, I use Vallejo Model Colors primarily. I try to find combinations of colors that work well together like for example: 962 Flat Blue and 901 Pastel Blue for the trousers.

Witch elves are what makes dark elf teams so cool. They are expensive to hire and break easily, but the amount of damage they can do to your opponent's team more than makes up for this. Witch Elf From a modelling point of view they are really interesting too. I've always fancied Jes Goodwin's Eldar harlequins  and I wanted my witch elves to look something like that. Witch Elf For a very long time I was struggling to find a combination of parts that I was satisfied with and I decided to scratch my first attempts . In the end I decided to use a Marauder witch elf combined with the legs of a female eldar harlequin. Since the face of the Marauder witch wasn't exactly up to Jes Goodwin standards I also used the face mask of the harlequin. Witch Elf The result is a witch elf in an attacking position which suits this kind of player well, I think.

When I saw the new Flames of War US Rifle Platoon I immediately knew I had to get some of these. They are beautifully sculpted and I really think Evan has outdone himself here. At the start of a new project I always do a test base/figure and only when I'm happy with the color choices I will move on to the rest of the miniatures in the unit. This time I decided to document the recipe because as we all know I will get sidetracked by other projects before I finish the whole platoon. So when I return to these miniatures at some point in the future I won't have to be guessing all the colors I used. Most of the time I start from a black undercoat and with these guys it was no different. Colors used are all Vallejo . Every Blood Bowl player will at some point have tried to play a match where it was hard to tell your opponent's miniatures apart. It can be very frustrating if there is no easy way to tell whether you are blocking a black orc or a goblin. "My blitzers are the ones with slightly more spikes than the others..."  Really? Also, it's rather time consuming when you constantly have to ask your opponent what his playing pieces represent. Orc Blitzer That's why I love base rings! Base rings were introduced in the 2 nd edition of Blood Bowl (I think) and by using them you can make your players' positions immediate to your opponent.
